Magazine Spread Reboot

Skiing culture portrayed in the modern-day is constantly paying tribute its origins and is something this spread was inspired by. In ‘This Season’s Best Skis for Intermediates’, the design focus was to grab the attention of the skiing community using a striking and dynamic layout complemented by bold colors. The colors that were utilized were a mustard yellow and a dark wood brown that originated from traditional ski trail signs. Straying away from a classic modular layout, the layout used in the spread had a diagonal line coming across both pages to show the mountains' angle and direct the viewer's eye to both pages. The typefaces implemented into the spread are retro Nordic typefaces that continue the cultural aesthetic put into place.
